Today's Word
Jesus says he didn't come to throw out the old rules — he came to take them deeper. It's not just "don't kill" — it's deal with your anger. It's not just "don't lie" — it's let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. No games. No manipulation. Just be real (Matthew 5:17-37).
Real Talk
How many times do you say things you don't mean? "Yeah, I'm fine." "Sure, I'll be there." "I don't care." You say yes when you mean no. You say no when you mean maybe. You ghost people instead of being honest. Jesus is calling that out — not to shame you, but because the gap between what you say and what you mean is the gap where trust dies. And without trust, every relationship falls apart.
One Prayer
God, I'm tired of faking it. Help me say what I mean and mean what I say — even when it's awkward, even when it costs me something. Make me real. Amen.
Your Challenge
Today, don't say "I'm fine" unless you actually are. If someone asks how you're doing, give an honest answer. Even "I'm tired" or "kind of struggling" is better than the autopilot lie. Let your yes mean yes.
Also — Ash Wednesday is this week. Lent is 40 days of getting real with God. Pick one thing: something to give up, something to take on, or someone to forgive. Make it your yes for the next 40 days.
You are not alone. Submit your intentions and they'll be carried to Holy Hour this Sunday.
