Salt and Light
Today's Word
Jesus tells his disciples: You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world. Not "you could be" or "you should try to become." You already are. But salt that loses its flavor is useless. Light hidden under a basket helps no one.
Real Talk
You've probably heard this passage a hundred times. But actually hear it: Jesus is calling you essential. Salt preserves. Salt adds flavor. Light reveals. Light guides. Without you - your particular personality, gifts, struggles, and story - something is missing. The question isn't whether you matter. You do. The question is whether you're living like it. Are you adding flavor to the spaces you're in, or just blending in? Are you letting your light show, or hiding it because it feels awkward?
One Prayer
Lord, help me believe I'm already salt and light. Give me courage to stop hiding and start living like I matter - because you say I do. Amen.
