The Reading

"Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters." - Matthew 15:27

Reflection

She came for her daughter. Not for herself - for someone she loved who was suffering and could not come for herself. Every part of the story is for her daughter: the shouting, the kneeling, the willingness to take the exclusion and argue from inside it, the refusal to leave.

Jesus names what she did great faith. Not because she had the strongest theological position. Because she would not stop until her daughter had what she needed.

Many women know this kind of intercession from the inside. The prayer said for a child who has walked away from the faith. The years of petition for a spouse, a parent, a friend whose healing has not come. The vigil held for someone else while your own situation goes unaddressed. The arguing that continues after the silence and the apparent no and the disciples trying to send you away.

Isaiah promised that the foreigners who hold to the covenant would be brought to the holy mountain and made joyful in the house of prayer - not as a consolation but with joy. The woman who does not stop, who argues for someone she loves, ends up in the place of joy. The daughter was healed from that hour.

Paul says the gifts and call of God are irrevocable. Whatever has been promised to the person you are carrying - it has not been revoked. The plan ends in mercy for everyone. Say it over the specific person you have been the most persistent for.

The Challenge

Name who you are carrying - the specific person you have been the Canaanite woman for. Then bring them today in the way she brought her daughter: not with a strong credential but with love for them and trust that the scraps are enough. Let it be done for you as you wish.

One Prayer

Lord, I come for [name]. Not for myself. Even the scraps from your table are enough for what they need. Let it be done for me as I wish for them. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. Amen.
