The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)

He fills you with the finest wheat. He sends forth his command to the earth; swiftly runs his word. The psalm praises the God who provides the specific good things - the peace at the borders, the blessed children, the finest wheat. The Eucharist is the finest wheat made available to every person who comes to the table - the manna of the new covenant, swifter than the word that runs across the earth.

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. The Eucharist is the pledge of resurrection - the eating of the one who has already passed through death and come back. Whoever feeds on him will have life because of him, the way Jesus has life because of the Father.

In the evening of life, the Eucharist is the sustenance for the final desert crossing. Moses tells the people to remember how they were fed in the terrible desert - the saraph serpents, the scorpions, the parched waterless ground, the water from the flinty rock. You are still in a desert of some kind. The manna is still being given. The Eucharist is still the food unknown to your ancestors, given for your life.
