Elizabeth names the reason before Mary speaks a word: blessed are you who believed. The believing is the thing. Not the womb alone, not the role, not the status - the faith that received the impossible word and held it without requiring the evidence to arrive first.

The Magnificat is the voice of that believing. My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord - not because it is yet visible but because the woman singing it has staked her life on the word being true. She has heard something and organized everything around it, and the song is the form that organization takes when it finds a voice.

Paul names the sequence: Christ the firstfruits, then those who belong to Christ. The Assumption places Mary as first in the second group - first among those whose resurrection-life is complete. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. In her, it has been. The process is already underway, already completed in one person, moving toward completion in all who belong to him.

Revelation's imagery is overwhelming - cosmic warfare, a dragon, a woman clothed with the sun. But the human anchor is the Visitation: two women in the hill country, one carrying the Word, one carrying the prophet who will announce him, the baby leaping at the greeting before any words have been exchanged. The great sign in heaven is the same woman who went in haste to her cousin.

The believing produces motion. In haste. Toward the person who needs it. The Magnificat, the Visitation, and the Assumption are all the same movement: the believing that receives the word, goes where it is needed, and arrives where the word was always leading.

For the person at the threshold of something - the beginning of adulthood, of a vocation, of a serious commitment - the feast offers Mary's pattern. You have heard something. What you do with it is what Elizabeth names as the blessedness: believe it will be fulfilled. Then go in haste.

What has been spoken to you by the Lord that you have heard but not yet organized your life around? Name it. Then say Elizabeth's sentence over it: blessed are you who believed this would be fulfilled. Say it as if it were already true.

Lord, what was spoken to me will be fulfilled. Let me believe that with Mary's believing - before the evidence, before the resolution, before anything is visible except the word. Let me go in haste. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. Amen.
