Then Jesus, praying alone with the disciples nearby, asks the question that decides everything else: "Who do the crowds say that I am?" They answer with guesses - John the Baptist, Elijah, an old prophet. Then he turns it personal: "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answers plainly: "The Christ of God." Pastor Ezra Jin - founder of one of China's largest underground churches, held 260 days before his release this summer following Trump's earlier intervention - testified alongside family members of those still detained. Blessed Fulton J. Sheen

As of yesterday, Blessed. Born in El Paso, Illinois in 1895, ordained in Peoria in 1919, Sheen became the most recognized Catholic evangelist of the American twentieth century - a radio host from 1930 to 1950, then a television host whose program "Life Is Worth Living" beat Milton Berle in the ratings and reached thirty million viewers a week. Pope John Paul II embraced him in October 1979 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, telling him, "You have written and spoken well of the Lord Jesus. You are a loyal son of the Church." Sheen died two months later, praying in his private chapel. He is entombed in the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria, where he was ordained more than a century ago.

Ask at dinner: "Sheen spent his whole public life answering one question for strangers: who is Jesus? If we had to answer that question out loud for someone this week, what would we actually say?"
