Vessel & Altar
We hold this treasure in earthen vessels.
Daily liturgical formation for Catholic women who pour out - and who need to be poured into. The vessel holds the treasure and pours it out. But the vessel also needs to be filled.

"Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior." - Philippians 3:20
Reflection
A dishonest manager, about to lose his job, quickly settles accounts in his own favor before the door closes on him. Jesus doesn't praise the dishonesty. He praises the urgency - the man used the time he had left, once he knew it was short, better than most people use time they assume is unlimited.
Paul gives you a cleaner use for that same urgency tonight, Sister: our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we wait for a savior who will change our lowly body into the likeness of his glorified body. A vessel who genuinely believed her time was borrowed would spend it differently than one who assumes she has decades to get around to what matters.
You are being carried home by every prayer still said for you, and those who went before you are being carried home by your prayers.
The psalm tonight is sung by pilgrims climbing toward Jerusalem: I rejoiced when they said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord. A Friday sacrifice offered for the dead is its own small pilgrimage - not a journey anywhere, but an ordinary week's discipline aimed at bringing someone else a little closer to that same house.
Fridays this month carry their own weight - whatever small sacrifice you already keep, offer it tonight specifically for the names in your book.
The Challenge
Offer tonight's Friday penance, however small, specifically for the names in your book of the dead. Say so plainly when you offer it.
One Prayer
Lord, my citizenship is in heaven, not in the time I keep assuming I have. Give me the manager's urgency without his dishonesty. Amen.
