Vessel & Altar
We hold this treasure in earthen vessels.
Daily liturgical formation for Catholic women who pour out — and who need to be poured into. The vessel holds the treasure and pours it out. But the vessel also needs to be filled.

"His disciples came and took away the corpse and buried him; and they went and told Jesus." - Matthew 14:12
Reflection
They buried him first. That matters. The disciples did not skip the grief or rush past the body to get to the meaning. They did what the moment required - the washing, the wrapping, the burial - and only after that did they go and tell Jesus.
Many women know this sequence from the inside. The grief that has to be tended before you can pray about it. The loss you have to sit with before you can bring it anywhere. The situation you have to hold for a while before you can speak it.
The going and telling is not the composed version. John's disciples were not composed. They had just buried the man who baptized the Messiah. They went anyway, in whatever condition they were in.
August begins today under the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She is the patron of this kind of going and telling. She did it her whole life - not waiting until she understood, not waiting until the grief had resolved. She brought what she had.
Sister, you don't have to have it figured out before you go. Go with the unresolved thing. That is what this month is for.
The Challenge
What are you carrying right now that you have been waiting to bring to God until you understand it better, or until it hurts less, or until you have better words for it? Don't wait. Bring the unresolved version. That is the version Mary brought. That is the version the disciples brought. It is enough.
One Prayer
Lord, I am coming to you with the unresolved thing. I don't have better words for it yet. Receive it anyway. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. Amen.
