Vessel & Altar
We hold this treasure in earthen vessels.
Daily liturgical formation for Catholic women who pour out - and who need to be poured into. The vessel holds the treasure and pours it out. But the vessel also needs to be filled.

"Work out your salvation with fear and trembling." - Philippians 2:12
Reflection
Jesus tells a crowd following him that none of them has actually counted what it will cost. A builder who starts a tower without enough money to finish becomes a joke to everyone watching the half-built thing stand there. Charles Borromeo, remembered today, spent his life making sure the Church's own ministers were properly formed before being sent out - not because willingness didn't matter, but because willingness alone was never enough.
A vessel that's never been tested doesn't yet know what she's actually built to hold. Paul's instruction tonight isn't meant to frighten you, Sister. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for God is the one who is at work in you both to desire and to work. The fear and trembling are honest about the stakes. The comfort is that you were never doing the working alone.
You are being carried home by every prayer still said for you, and those who went before you are being carried home by your prayers.
Charles Borromeo, remembered today, insisted on real formation before real ministry, because willingness alone had left too many people unprepared for what they'd actually be asked to carry. A vessel counts the cost for the same reason he did - not to talk herself out of the calling, but to actually be ready for the weight of it.
Count something honestly tonight - not to talk yourself out of it, but to actually know what you're carrying and why.
The Challenge
Name one thing your faith has genuinely cost you this year. Sit with that cost honestly tonight instead of minimizing it.
One Prayer
Lord, let me count the real cost instead of assuming it, and trust that you are the one doing the deeper work in me. Amen.
